Old Cataract Hotel, Aswan

The five-star Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan is one of Egypt’s most well-known historical hotels.

Situated in a distinct location on the edge of the Nile Valley and the Nubian Desert, the 19th-century hotel is famous for its luxury and for welcoming prominent guests including Kings and Prime Ministers.

ACC were contracted for the refurbishment and complete renovation of the hotel. Due to the historic nature of the property, the project was undertaken very sensitively, and all work was monitored by the Authority of Archaeology.

Now managed by the Sofitel luxury hotel brand and divided into two different yet equally luxurious sections, the hotel provides its guests with varying experiences. The Palace wing, comprised of 76 rooms including 45 suites, preserves the property’s historical charm with Byzantine-style striped arches and other similar, traditional touches. Contemporary and elegantly appointed, The Nile wing’s 62 rooms including 37 suites feature private balconies and guest bathrooms overlooking the Nile River.

A full-service resort, the Old Cataract Aswan features saw ACC craftsmanship refurbish the legendary 1902, a dining room famous for its Qualaun crypt and outstanding décor, resurrecting the mythic luxury of the property while conserving its original beauty by combining Victorian, Middle Eastern and French styles.

Masdar Institute 1 B, Abu Dhabi

Designed by Foster & Partners, the campus includes three residential buildings with 222 1-bedroom apartments: four additional lab buildings and an iconic multi-level, multi-use sports hall/auditorium with a pool and gym facilities.

The MASDAR development is the physical component of the MASDAR initiative, spreading over approximately 6 square kilometres of land that was granted by the Government of Abu Dhabi.

The Masdar Institute 1B project involved the construction of the campus to house the Institute’s graduate program. The program is run in conjunction with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in the US and hopes to be the cornerstone forum for research, business and creativity in renewable technology.

The Masdar Institute received worldwide recognition for the project’s unique design and sustainability achievements which are the result of solar studies, wind tunnel testing, and energy simulation. The campus and its associated buildings are designed to reduce energy by optimising building form and orientation and carefully configuring streets and urban spaces.

Princess Tower, Dubai

ACC’s skyscraper building pedigree is best exemplified by the elegant Princess Tower. The 414 metre Princess Tower at Dubai Marina was the tallest residential building in the world for the better part of a decade and still ranks in the top 10 globally.

Comprising 101 floors storeys with a built-up area of 171,000 m², it contains over 700 luxury residential apartment and penthouses.

Al Nakhla Tower, Riyadh

The Al Nakhla Tower is a design and build project consisting of a distinct office tower, located in the Al Aqeeq area of Riyadh opposite King Abdullah Financial District. Renowned as one of the few premium commercial towers in Riyadh, the tower includes three basements, a ground floor, 19 office floors, two garden floors and three technical floors.

The work includes all structural and civil, architectural and MEP works with all associated builder’s works and internal finishes. The MEP scope of works covers HVAC, plumbing, sanitary works, firefighting, electrical and LV systems.

Al Bidda Tower, Qatar

Al Bidda Tower is a 43-storey landmark commercial skyscraper situated on the Doha Corniche. The unique spiralling structure is one of the outstanding landmarks on the Doha skyline and is one of the world’s few twisted towers.

The tower is 215 m high and twists 60 degrees through its height.  It also varies in width, being at its narrowest at the 14th floor and increasing in width so that the apex is wider than the base.

The façade is formed from the utilisation of an unconventional diagonal curtain wall accommodating progressively varying floor plates culminating at the top with an illuminated roof facing the Corniche.

Platinum Tower, Beirut

Platinum Tower is considered the most prestigious building on the Beirut seafront and has become an icon of the Beirut skyline.

The design stands out with its unique envelope of custom designed glazing which created a combination of reflection, comfort and transparency turning the project into a gem-like structure.

The building includes 75 very high standard residential units, ranging in size from 560 m² to 1,750 m².

Emirates Airlines HQ, Dubai

The Emirates Headquarters is a unique facility. A complex dual-purpose facility, it is both the active operations centre and the corporate head office for the world’s most renowned airline operator, Emirates Airlines

It has three lower floors – a basement, ground and first floor which are used as crew terminal dispatch centres and house complete arrival and departure facilities. Equipped with 40 briefing rooms, duty-free shopping control rooms, luggage handling and its own customs and immigration facilities, it links up with the Dubai Airport through an underground tunnel below the busy approach road.

The remaining 9 floors above are occupied by the Emirates Staff Headquarters, planned around a grand atrium capped with a skylight. The top floor is dedicated to the Emirates management overlooking the airport and all aircraft movement. The floors below are offices with high-end facilities essential to modern workplaces. The rooftop provides a health and leisure facility for the management staff in the form of a jogging track, swimming pool and health club.

The Nile Ritz Carlton, Cairo

Originally known as the Nile Hilton, ACC completed a major renovation of this 1960’s modernist hotel to transform it into a contemporary luxury hotel for Ritz-Carlton.

The hotel is situated in a prime location in the heart of central Cairo, close to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and overlooking the Nile River.

The renovation involved reappointing 331 rooms – including 52 suites – across its 13 floors, as well as the Alf Leila W Leila ballroom, an international conference centre equipped with the latest audio-visual technologies, all of the hotel’s restaurants including its specialist food and beverage outlets, VIP lounges and a beauty centre.

Outside are landscaped open spaces and pools adjacent to the Nile.

In July 2016, the hotel was awarded an Award of Merit in the Renovation/Restoration category at the ENR Global Best Project Awards.
