Fujairah F1 Independent Water and Power Plant, UAE
The Fujairah F1 Independent Water and Power Plant is located in Qidfa on the Gulf of Oman and is one of the region’s significant operating utility facilities. The plant has a generation capacity of approximately 893 MW and a seawater desalination output of around 100 million imperial gallons per day (455,000 m³/day), supporting both electricity supply and potable water demand for the Emirate of Fujairah and surrounding regions.
Completed in 2003, the project forms part of the UAE’s early programme of privately financed IWPP developments, combining large-scale power generation with thermal seawater desalination within a single operational complex.
ACC was subcontracted by Doosan Heavy Industries to execute the full civil works and structural steel scope for the plant. This included foundations and building structures for the main power island, desalination units, turbine halls, auxiliary buildings, and associated infrastructure. Delivery required coordinated heavy civil construction, sequencing aligned to turbine and boiler installation, and precise interface management with EPC mechanical and electrical systems.
The Fujairah F1 IWPP reinforced ACC’s capability in utility-scale power and water infrastructure and contributed to the advancement of combined power and desalination development models across the region.
